Architectural photography can be a great way of exploring and documenting a city, whether it's your home or on holiday. Its about capturing not only the design and accurate representation of a building, but to have the shots be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer's eye. An architectural photographer makes pictures, not takes pictures.

In this session, we will be covering how to better understand Architecture photography and we'll be looking at ways to take some impressive shots and the camera settings to use.

REVIEWS
It was a great event. Alan created a wonderfully, relaxing event even as chilly as it was. He had supplies, his own produced music playing which was classical, and bottled water. I will sign up for the next event.

My fans encouraged me to paint a ?Bowl of Fruit?? That felt too clich?, no offense. I set this scene up in my garage and took lots of pictures with my cellphone. Still shots were too hard to capture the action just right so (after several messy attempts) I did video, I got the perfect screenshot at maximum milk splash. This my 24?x24? Oil on canvas, ?Vitamin Overload?. Enjoy!

This is an 11x14 acrylic I started painting in a HLOKC ART class, but wasn't able to finish. It was just a dark blob when I took it home. I worked on it with determination to make it look right, especially since the reference picture was from an area of the country I was from, Louisiana. I got advice and technical suggestions from my teacher as I needed. I was so grateful he let me figure out how I wanted the painting to look, especially since I was the one who suggested we do a painting of a s

As an artist, my favorite subjects to paint are landscapes with vibrant colored skies. By using acrylics, it allows me to add more layers onto the canvas to achieve the same levels of colors you would see on clouds during a beautiful sunset or sunrise. This particular piece was one of my favorites to create providing a sense of serenity with the mirrored reflection of the clouds on the calm water.

In this painting I wanted to convey the intensity of the fox's stare - that something has caught his eye and he is standing perfectly still watching it! I am always intrigued with how light hits a subject - this is why I love using oil paints as you can get such a depth of colour (I layer up the colours) and then the last few brushstrokes are the highlights and that is when the magic happens!

This is Lucy, one of our favorite family dogs. She is the sweetest pooch and loves to ride in the car, windows opened. She is in her glory as her ears catch the wind and almost smiles. I tried to capture her wonderful nature in this watercolor painting. I used very heavy pigment to give detail to her fur. I so love the many styles watercolor allows you to create. It is one of my favorite paintings because, I Love Lucy:)

This scene is from an early morning boat ride in New Hampshire - we had been here a couple of times over the last few years. It was so quiet and the water so still . The early morning fog had not lifted and people were still not stirring. I snapped a photo when I saw this scene with the colorful leaves framing the waiting boats. I knew I would paint this one day. It?s a 24 x 30 gallery wrapped oil painting. It can be seen at the Elizabethan Gallery.

This is a detail style (aka meticulous style) painting done on a sized shuen paper known as glass paper. Sumi ink and a small brush are used to draw the outlines and a layer of ink washes are added for shading. Then multiple layers of Chines colors are added until the colors reach the intensity you want.
